A close call for Tornadoes against Crendon Diamonds
Thame Tornadoes 20 - 19 Long Crendon Diamonds
What a game!
Tornadoes in a local derby against Crendon and looking for a second win against them it began.
After and calm and collected first quarter we finished 4 goals ahead and feeling solid heading into the second quarter. This one didn’t go Tornadoes way, Tornadoes were still ahead but it Crendon had turned up.
So half time Tornadoes were in roughly the same position, ahead but only by a little. Yet this is when it all kicked off.
Final quarter, goals in tandem, noise escalating and pressure mounting. Crendon took the lead, about half way though the quarter. The ball to and throwing for an entirety before we drew level. Tornadoes won their next centre and regain the lead. Having only lost it once in the whole game. With only minutes left we took Tornadoes centre, and looked to make only safe passes. Reiterated by Karen down in the defence third and Aimee decided to play catch with Crendon's WD. The ball went flying down the court in a frenzy, straight to their D, when Lyn managed to “accidentally” knock the ball out of the shooters hand. Some unintended yet desperately needed time wasting, as the whistle blow just before Crendons GS set up to take the penalty shot.
Tornadoes won 20-19
MoM - Cat
DoD - Nic (For telling the umpire how to do her job)
Other notable mentions:
- Karen for practicing her rugby ‘cheek to cheek’ technique
- Tanya for not understand the difference between left and right
- Lucy for spending more time on the floor than on her feet
- Lyn for imitating Tanya (something that shouldn’t be recommended)
